JEWELRY CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Thank you for purchasing Dobbs Boston jewelry. Now that we are entrusting its care to you, here are some suggestions that come from many years of experience and that will help you wear it with pride:
> Storing your jewelry in a ziplock bag will reduce tarnish formation.
> Because good silver will eventually tarnish, the more care you take "now", the more cleaning time you will save later on. To maintain the beauty of your jewelry, we recommend that you remove fingerprints and light tarnish with a silver cleaning cloth regularly. Dobbs Boston's Silver Cloth has an inner cloth chemically treated to remove tarnish and an outer buffing cloth to maintain the high luster of your silver.
> 14 kt gold may be cleaned safely in sterling silver cleaning solutions but silver may NOT be cleaned in solutions specifically formulated for gold. Non-porous gemstones may be cleaned in a silver solution but porous gemstones (such as lapis, malachite, torqoise, etc.) will be RUINED if dipped in any solution.
> For heavier tarnish, clean your silver with a silver cleaning solution: NEVER with a silver paste. Leaving your silver in the solution for 10-15 seconds is usually sufficient time but make certain that you agitate the silver when submersed.
> Remove the jewelry; rinse thoroughly under running water to remove ALL solution from inside the beads; pat dry with a soft towel to remove excess water; then use a hair dryer as you gently shake the jewelry to remove all remaining water from inside the beads. This last step is perhaps the most important because you do not want to leave ANY pooled water inside the beads. It will drip out and spoil all the work you just did.
> It's always a good idea to remove your jewelry when applying makeup, lotions, hairspray, or perfume.
> Never use a silver cleaner designed for flatwear for your jewelry.
> If you have any questions or are uncertain about any of the above, we suggest you contact your jeweler for further information.
> This may sound like more work than it really is but we believe that knowing how to care properly for your jewelry will make all the difference in maintaining its lovely luster. If we may help further or if you have any suggestions, please let us know. We welcome your comments and will share all good suggestions with other DobbsBoston consumers.
